SH1 C. L. Fair
A Pearl Harbor Survivor. Started as a boatswain mate recruit ended as a SH1 (Barber) and offered SHC (the highest enlisted pay grade) as the war ended. Stationed on the USS Arizona doctors thought he had mumps put him on USS Nevada and the morning of the attack was suppose to go back to USS Arizona. All this after surviving two years in North Atlantic on escort duty of supply ships to England. Went on to earn 15 battle stars in the Pacific. Now honored in memorial on the USS Alabama. Married 55 years with 5 children.
